     On this blog, I try to incorporate some of the guidelines I take into account when I handicap games. I have 8 steadfast points of reasoning when I handicap. Sometimes (but rarely) I become complacent and do not factor in all my steadfast points. I bring this up because another huge key to successful gambling is focus. Very often, we as gamblers get caught up in the action mindset and forget what our true goal is to betting sports. If we like 2 football games that happen to start at 1 pm, we bet the later games just to have some action. Regardless of how strong our opinions are on the later games, we feel a need to be involved. As addictive as that rush is, we need to break away from that mindset. Action does not pay the bills, money does. You cannot go to your landlord and tell them you are short $100 for the monthly rent, but here is my verbal 3 hour account of how great it felt to bet a 4pm football game in detail.      Miami & Dallas battle it out in the 2nd game of the NBA Championship tonight. Miami has stuck to their game plan and bruised through every game the first 3 1/2 quarters before the rested Big 3 put the feet on the gas and win games going away. Dallas knows that to beat Miami, they have to open up a big lead, and not let Lebron and Co. drive to the basket. The total for tonight's game is 186.5. That line gives me the connotation that the lines makers think Dallas may take game 2.  Reason being the Heat win games with early defense and late offense. Those games are lower scoring than 186.5. I to like Dallas in game 2, but like the OVER total 186.5 even more. My blueprint for this game lays out like this. Dallas wins the first quarter handily with a total of 51 points scored in it. The second quarter, the scoring slows down to 42 points with Dallas winning the quarter by 2 points after the Heat own the beginning of it. The third quarter, we see Dallas break open to a 12 point lead and a 46 point quarter. The 4th, Dallas puts the stranglehold on a Miami team that will penetrate to the basket, stop the clock and get to the line. Miami will try to get back into the game with quick possessions which in turn will lead to more scoring for both teams. Final quarter, we get 50 points and a Dallas win by 9.
