Christopher's Blue Collar Lunch Pail Pick

These are the best of times. These were the worst of times. Right now for the Knicks and myself, we are behind the 8 Ball and need to start firing on all cylinders. The positive side is that we have been close 2/3rds of the time, but close doesn't cut it in NBA basketball or sports handicapping. Instead of taking jump shots until 2am, I went to work researching stats, and weather conditions for today's baseball games. I have Red Sox DNA in me, and if they can rip off a methodical winning streak to get to a respectable record in no time, so can I! What can you say about Anibal Sanchez? They guy has one no hitter under his young belt, and came within 3 outs of throwing another one against an offensive team like the Colorado Rockies. Just a quick take on their match up today. Teams no hit or almost no hit the day before tend to come out scoring and swinging the next day. Just a quick tidbit of info I picked up researching last night.

Chris Carpenter is on the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals today. Normally, that would be a great thing for the Cards. So far this season, he is 0-2 with a 4.12 ERA. Run support has not been Carpenter's friend in the early part of the season, and they will have problems scoring runs again today against young, strikeout throwing Travis Wood. Granted, St. Louis is playing at home, and Wood has an ERA of 5.73, but what I like is he has only given up 1 home run this season. When a pitcher keeps the ball in the park, and can throw strikeouts, that is a combination for eventual success. Cincinnati is ranked top 5 in all major offensive categories. Votto is on fire hitting close to .400 and Jonny Gomes has shown pop in his bat. I am the value player, and getting Cincinnati at +134 is value to me. My FREE PLAY OF THE DAY is Cincinnati +134
